BC PNP Document Checklist

Missing a single document can get your application returned or refused. Use this comprehensive checklist to prepare everything before you apply.

⚠️ Critical: 30-Day Deadline

After receiving an invitation, you have exactly 30 calendar days to submit a complete application. Start gathering documents NOW, before you get invited.

General Formatting Rules

Before you start scanning, keep these rules in mind for ALL documents:

  • Format: All files must be PDF (except photos, which can be JPG/JPEG)
  • Quality: Scans must be in colour, clear, and fully legible
  • Size: Maximum 3MB per file (compress large PDFs if needed)
  • Orientation: Documents must be right-side up and not cropped
  • Translation: Non-English/French documents need certified translation PLUS the original
  • Certification: Some documents require notarization or attestation
💡 Pro Tip: Use a proper scanner instead of phone photos. Scanner apps like Adobe Scan or Microsoft Lens produce better quality if you must use your phone.

Frequently Asked Questions

What if my employer won't provide documents?

This is a red flag. A legitimate employer supporting your BC PNP application should readily provide required documents. If they refuse, you may need to find a new employer or consult an immigration lawyer.

Can I use expired language test results?

No. Your language test must be valid (less than 2 years old) at the time you submit your BC PNP application AND when you apply for PR.

Do I need original documents or copies?

BC PNP accepts scanned copies uploaded to their portal. Keep your originals safe—you may need them for the federal PR stage.

What happens if I miss a document?

BC PNP may request the missing document, which delays processing. In some cases, incomplete applications are returned or refused.
